Solar Wind is a dedicated GeoLira view for this part of the observatory. It combines the route-specific interface with the same source, freshness, privacy and evidence boundaries used across the platform.

Solar wind is both plasma and magnetic field

GeoLira uses solar-wind speed, density and temperature together with interplanetary magnetic-field components Bt and Bz. Each parameter has its own unit and may change independently. One large number does not describe the complete state of the flow reaching the near-Earth environment.

Southward Bz can strengthen magnetospheric coupling

Sustained southward Bz can favor reconnection and energy transfer into the magnetosphere, especially together with suitable solar-wind speed and other plasma conditions. One brief negative Bz reading is not equivalent to hours of sustained driving and should not be treated as a complete storm forecast.

Near-real-time data have their own freshness clock

RTSW is polled frequently, but upstream publication can arrive with several minutes of normal latency. GeoLira distinguishes that behavior from genuinely stale data and applies a hard age limit. Charts preserve the source observed_at time instead of pretending that fetch time is measurement time.
